BioCom2 2012 is an NSF sponsored workshop dedicated to bringing together researchers with broad interests in computation and communication in the bio-nano world. The initiative seeks to attract a mix of scientists from often polarized fields such as Computer Science, Bioengineering, Mathematics, and Physics to foster inter-disciplinary discussions and collaborations. The workshop will be held in Boston on November 8-9, 2012.
Specific topics of interest include:
- Engineering synthetic biological circuits with communication interfaces
- Microbial communication networks
- Wireless energy transfer at the nano-scale
- Quantum coherence in biological systems
Attendance will be limited to approximately 30 invited participants. NSF funding for the workshop covers travel costs up to $1000 per participant. Participants will be selected on the basis of a one-page white paper. The white paper should contain: 1) name and affiliation, 2) brief description of the candidate’s expertise and scientific contribution to the workshop; and 3) a statement indicating whether NSF travel support is requested or is not requested. Please save the white paper as a PDF file using the candidate’s name as the filename, and e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 31. Invitations will be issued by September 15th.
More details will be available shortly.
